Job Title: Painter and Decorator

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Painter and Decorator to join our team in Plymouth, either on a full-time or self-employed basis. In this role, you will be responsible for painting, decorating, and maintaining various surfaces and structures, ensuring exceptional workmanship and attention to detail.

Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 08:00 – 17:00
Rates of Pay: To be discussed

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in painting, surface preparation, and a variety of decoration techniques.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of different types of paints, finishes, and tools.
  • Proficiency in spray painting is highly desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently.
  • Physical stamina and capability to work at heights when necessary.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
  • Must have own van and tools.

Responsibilities

Surface Preparation Expertise: Prepare surfaces by removing old paint, repairing holes, cracks, and ensuring smoothness for an optimal finish.

Paint Application Mastery: Skillfully apply primers, paints, varnishes, and other finishes using a variety of techniques, including brushing, rolling, and spraying, to achieve desired textures and finishes.

Material and Colour Expertise: Advise on suitable paint types, colour combinations, and finishes based on project requirements and client preferences.

Surface Repair and Restoration: Repair and restore damaged surfaces prior to painting, including patching holes, sanding surfaces, and ensuring structural integrity.

Project Planning and Coordination: Coordinate with project managers, clients, and other team members to plan schedules, order materials, and ensure timely completion of projects.

Quality Control and Inspection: Conduct thorough inspections of completed work to ensure adherence to quality standards, resolve any deficiencies, and ensure client satisfaction.

Safety Compliance Leadership: Uphold safety standards, ensuring the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintaining a safe work environment for oneself and others.

Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and manage tools, equipment, and machinery, ensuring they are in good working condition and properly stored.

Client Communication: Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs, provide recommendations, and address any concerns or questions throughout the project.
